Sofia Harris

Sofia is a compassionate and experienced play therapist with over 20 years of practice, specialising in family play therapy and child mental health. She works with children and families navigating trauma, anxiety, grief, and disabilities, using a trauma-informed, neuro-affirming approach to foster healing and emotional resilience.
Sofia believes in the transformative power of play to help children express and process their emotions. She integrates attachment theory, neuroscience, and interpersonal neurobiology into her work to support emotional growth and healing. A core aspect of Sofia’s approach is involving parents and caregivers in the therapeutic journey, empowering them with the tools and support needed to navigate family dynamics and build stronger, healthier connections.
Sofia is also proud to offer family play therapy, creating a safe and collaborative space where both parents and children engage in therapeutic play together. This process deepens their bond, allowing them to better understand each other, process emotions, and strengthen their relationship. Sofia uses a dyadic approach, like Interplay, to foster family connection and build emotional resilience.
Sofia also offers Filial Family Therapy, an empowering approach where parents learn to guide their child’s therapy by conducting weekly 30-minute play sessions at home. With Sofia’s coaching and support, parents help their children process emotional regulation difficulties, low self-esteem, or relationship challenges, while deepening their connection and fostering growth.
At The Family Systems Hub, Sofia is dedicated to supporting families as they navigate healing and growth. Whether through child play therapy, family play therapy, or filial therapy, Sofia works with families to create lasting positive change, strengthening their emotional bonds and promoting lasting, transformative healing.
