Parenting can take us into the most intense and wonderful experiences with our children, yet can also take us into the deepest, darkest places in ourselves. What is needed to create a fulfilling family life that has an abundance of joy and loving connection? Where do we need to bring our focus so that children can have the childhood they so richly deserve – one that fosters their healthy growth?
I’ve had the privilege of witnessing the shifts in family dynamics when my clients have a safe space to explore their own childhood. Understanding how our own upbringing influences our parenting style and emotional responses, allows us to make conscious choices rather than reacting unconsciously. This self-awareness can lead to more empathetic and effective parenting.
Parenting is an evolving journey. Being open to learning new parenting strategies, staying informed about child development, and adapting to the changing needs of children promotes ongoing growth for both parents and children. In this way the healing process can bring you closer to being the parent you truly want to be!
I have worked as a parent educator and gestalt psychotherapist for over 20 years with a diverse range of communities – CaLD (Culturally and Linguistically Diverse), LGBTIQ+, local and intercountry adoption with the aim of supporting strong and healthy families.
