Are you a psychotherapist, counsellor, psychologist, play therapist or social worker seeking to work on your inner therapist (inner dynamics) and explore your own wounds while deepening your systemic understanding? This Family Constellations group session is designed especially for professionals like you.
Family Constellations is a transformative systemic tool for self-awareness that uncovers and addresses underlying issues often rooted in past generations. This process reveals hidden entanglements, fosters healthier and more fulfilling relationships, promotes inner and outer harmony, and strengthens your capacity to maintain healthy boundaries.
Come be led by two highly experienced and internationally known child and adult therapists, Devi Hernandez and Mili Sarmiento Shoemaker who specialise in facilitating family constellations and family systemic practice.
By focusing on our personal growth, we become an asset for humanity.
Benefits
This is a unique opportunity to reflect on your own inner dynamics and personal wounds.
We come from a family system and we are part of a family system. To pretend otherwise is like pretending that a tree has no roots or that a seed does not come from a fruit. We are connected with all those who made our life possible, and that connection is within us. Often, we are not very aware of this or we avoid being aware. But we are. When we participate in a Family Constellations process , we bring that connection with us into the group session as well.
What you will gain:
- A unique opportunity to reflect on your own inner dynamics and personal wounds
- Deeper awareness of how your family system influences your role as a therapist
- Practical tools to integrate systemic approaches into your therapeutic work
- A supportive space to grow both personally and professionally
What happens after a family constellation?
It is normal to experience a range of emotions after a family constellation session. These emotions may include relief, sadness, joy, anger, or a sense of release. Participants may also feel emotionally drained or physically tired. Engaging in self-care practices after a family constellation session is vital to support your emotional well-being.
- Hydration, Rest and Relaxation: Keep yourself hydrated. Prioritise rest and relaxation to replenish your energy. This may involve getting enough sleep, taking breaks, and engaging in activities that help you unwind and recharge.
- Emotional Expression: Allow yourself to express and process your emotions. This can be done through journaling, talking with a trusted friend or therapist, or engaging in creative outlets such as art or music.
- Grounding Techniques: Engage in grounding practices to reconnect with the present moment and your body. This can include mindfulness meditation, deep breathing exercises, or activities in nature.
- Self-Compassion: Be gentle and compassionate with yourself as you integrate the insights and experiences from the constellation session.
What can be constellated?
Anything that is affecting our life. Things that are repetitive, persistent, or very intense and difficult for us to overcome or resolve.
What cannot be constellated?
Changing another person. In Family Constellations, the work is focused on the consultant. However, since we are part of a family system, our change impacts other members of the system in multiple possible ways.
What happens in a family constellation group session?
In these group sessions, individuals have a chance to explore the hidden dynamics and unresolved issues within their families of origin that are contributing to the presenting challenges being faced in different and multiple areas of their life whether that is financially, socially, vocationally, familial and intellectually etc.
In a Family Constellations, everyone who attends, whether they bring a specific issue, theme or not, actively engage in the process in one of three ways:
- As a Client exposing the problem you want to address
- As a Representative putting yourself at the service of work to assist the Client
- As a Participant, being part of, supporting, observing and helping to contain what is happening during the course of the constellation (holding circle)
We start the work with a group meditation. Then, the constellation begins when the Family Constellation Facilitator asks if someone has a theme they would like to address. After a brief interview to know the basics of the problem, other people from the group will be chosen to collaborate as representatives of the people involved in the issue to be addressed. Once the representatives are chosen, they are placed in the space, and from there, the constellation comes to life in such a way that the representatives begin to feel the emotions, desires, and fears of those they represent.
